Math is Everywhere
Preschool math isn't about worksheets — it's about building number sense through play. Here are five activities you can do today!
1. Count Everything
Count stairs, snacks, toys, and toes. The more children count real objects, the more concrete numbers become.
2. Sort and Classify
Have your child sort laundry by color, toys by size, or blocks by shape. Sorting builds the foundation for patterns and data skills.
3. Shape Hunt
Go on a shape scavenger hunt around your home. Find circles (plates), rectangles (doors), and triangles (roof lines).
4. Pattern Play
Use colored objects to create simple patterns: red-blue-red-blue. Let your child continue the pattern.
5. Cook Together
Baking is math in action! Count scoops, measure ingredients, and talk about halves and wholes.
