1. What cookies and local storage do
Cookies are small pieces of data a website stores in your browser and may receive with later requests. Local storage saves information in the browser too, but it is not automatically sent with each web request. Both can remember settings or support access to a service.
2. Storage used by this site
- Account and security storage: Base44 uses authentication storage, such as access tokens, to keep signed-in users authenticated. Hosting and checkout services may also use cookies for security, fraud prevention and requested transactions. These operate for a session or the provider's configured lifetime; authentication tokens may remain until sign-out, expiry or removal.
- Platform visitor identifier:
base44_analytics_session_idstores a randomly generated browser identifier. Despite its name, Base44 also attaches it to platform requests when you are not signed in, even with optional analytics disabled. It lets the platform associate those requests with the same browser. It remains until site data is cleared and may be recreated on a later visit. - Learning progress:
brightowl_kids_progress_v1stores activity progress and rewards on this browser. It stays until reset or until site data is cleared. The learning activities do not upload this saved progress to our servers. - Cookie notice:
brightowl_cookie_notice_v1remembers that you dismissed our notice. It remains until site data is cleared or the notice version changes. Dismissing the notice does not enable optional tracking or accept other terms. You can reopen it using “Cookie Notice” in the footer. - Audio choices:
brightowl_kids_muted,brightowl_voice,brightowl_speedandbrightowl_narration_moderemember sound, voice, speed and narration preferences. They remain until changed or cleared.
Exact service-provider cookies and their lifetimes can vary with browser, sign-in state and whether you enter checkout. The provider policies linked in our Privacy Policy explain their practices.
3. Analytics, advertising and external services
Optional Base44 visitor analytics are disabled in this site. We have not enabled advertising pixels or behavioural advertising cookies. Hosting and security providers may still process operational logs needed to run and protect the service.
Google Fonts and our image, audio and video delivery providers receive connection information when content loads. Choosing Google sign-in, Stripe checkout, or a link to Amazon or Etsy takes you into that provider's services, which may use their own cookies and privacy controls.
If we introduce optional tracking, we will update this policy and provide any consent controls required before enabling it.
4. Managing browser storage
Use your browser's privacy or site-data settings to inspect, block or delete cookies and local storage for brightowl.ca. Settings vary by browser; look for “Cookies”, “Site data” or “Website data”. For shared devices, use separate browser profiles if you want to keep learning progress separate.
Clearing site data can sign you out and permanently remove locally saved rewards, progress and audio preferences. Blocking storage may prevent settings from being saved or interfere with sign-in and checkout. It does not delete an order or account held by us; contact us for those requests.
